Export an Azure DevOps query, sprint, or single work item to one Word or PDF file. The document includes the description, images, and other fields from your template.

Step 1

Open the extension and choose how to export

Open Export to Word/PDF in the project, then use one of the ways below. You can start in the extension, on a sprint, in a query, or on an open work item.

From the extension

In Export to Word/PDF, add the work items you want and choose DOCX (Word) or PDF. The template and export button are on this same page.

From a sprint

On Boards → Sprints, select the work items, open the context menu, and choose Export to Word or Export to PDF.

From query results

Open a query, select the results, and choose Export to Word or Export to PDF from the context menu.

Choose a template and export

This dialog opens when you start from a sprint, a query, or a work item. Keep the default template or pick another one, then click Export to Word or Export to PDF.

Review the document

Open the downloaded file. The template lays out each work item, including formatted description fields.
